STATIC-X Frontman Apologizes For Abbreviated Kansas City Performance

June 14, 2005

STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static has issued an apology for the band's abbreviated performance at the Rockfest in Kansas City on Saturday (June 11). Says Static, "Myself and the band sincerely apologize for not being able to play our full set Saturday at Rockfest in Kansas City. Honestly, I can't believe we actually made it onto the stage at all. We spent most of the night with a broken trailer at a truck stop. When it was clear that we would not make it in time for our scheduled performance, CROSSFADE was nice enough to switch set times with us and go on early. The radio station also did the best they could to push back all the set times so we could play. Ultimately, by the time our excellent crew got all the gear on stage we only had time to play four songs. As far as our scheduled signing, it is my understanding that we missed our time slot and could not get rescheduled. Our current tour schedule is booked through mid August, but this fall I hope to get back to K.C. and make it up to everyone who spent their money to come see us."

STATIC-X's new album, "Start a War", is being released today (June 14) via Warner Bros. Records.

STATIC-X entered the studio in Los Angeles in October with producer Ulrich Wild to begin recording the group's first release with new drummer Nick Oshiro. Early STATIC-X guitarist Koichi Fukuda — who recently officially rejoined the band — handled the programming and keyboard duties during the recording process.

STATIC-X's last collection of new recordings, "Shadow Zone", was released in October 2003. A remix-and-rarities disc, "Beneath, Between, Beyond", featuring the band's soundtrack releases as well as early demos, exclusive remixes and never-before-heard material, came out last July.

As previously reported, Fukuda rejoined STATIC-X in early March as the replacement for Tripp Eisen, who was dismissed from the group following reports that Eisen was arrested by authorities in two states on charges that include kidnapping, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from two separate incidents involving sexual relations with minors.
